The entire Team is State Certified as well as First Aid/CPR/AED, Food Handler Certified with many years of related experience.

Mr. Chuk Atum (AKA Papa Bear)

Vice President/COO/Owner/Certified Director 


Mr. Chuk is former Military (USMC), Law Enforcement (Gangs & Narcotics Detective), Certified Juvenile Detective, Counterterrorism Specialist, Human Resources Professional and Business Owner/Professional. He holds an MBA - General Business, BA - HR Management, and an AA in Computer Science, Certified Director, Published Author and brings along great respect and admiration for the Child Care Industry. He has tremendous leadership skills, and experience and has led small to large teams of up to 500 personnel.

Mr. Atum enjoys spending time with his family/friends, working with kids, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, art, traveling, listening to music, watching good movies, cooking, computers, building websites, meditating, playing the Native American Flute, Martial Arts, Speaking Japanese.

He has traveled to more than 35 countries with many of them not so friendly. He served 3 years in Iraq & 3 years in Afghanistan combatting terrorism and restoring peace. He truly enjoys helping others and building relationships. 

Mr. Atum is an author of children's books and recently published his newest book, "Mr. Bonz and The School Bully" which is offered for sale on Amazon in both Kindle and Paperback Versions. 

Mrs. Josie Atum (Aka mama bear)

President/CEO/Owner/Certified Director

Mrs. Josie is currently an AGR Staff Sergeant in the Texas Army National Guard (TXARNG), pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Communications, and a Certified Child Care Director.

She brings along many years of Child Care experience, knowledge, leadership, organization, resource management, and dependability. She is very nurturing, patient, and love kids.

Mama Bear enjoys mentoring her Soldiers, nurturing her children, loving on her husband and teaching and nurturing little bears. .

Mrs. Linda W. 

Assistant Director/Certified Infant/Toddler/Pre-School Teacher 

Mrs. Linda graduated class of 83. She is certified in Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Aide and Child Care. She enjoys Church, spending time with her family, sewing, scrapbooking, gardening, baking and traveling.

Ms. Linda also enjoys being a young “Nana” to her grandboys, playing video games and basketball on occasion. She has one biological daughter and two adopted daughters and has been married for 40 years now. Taking care and working with kids has always been a passion of hers. I have 6 years of child care and looking for too many more. 

Mrs. Mercedes L. 

Administrative & Child Care Support Specialist


Mrs. Mercedes graduated from East Central High School in 2018. After high school she joined the Marine Corps where she served as a Supply Administrator from 2018 to 2023. Since separating from the military she wanted to take on a position where she can not only watch her daughter thrive but help other kids.

Mrs. Trenz is now a certified child care provider  who will work as an Administrative Manager and fill in as a teacher when needed. She enjoys family time, spending time at the beach, and taking walks in the evenings. 

MRs. Patricia "Patti" C.

Certified Infant teacher/nutritionist


Mrs. Patti is a High School Graduate, Certified Child Care Provider who brings along 7+ years of experience. She enjoys being a housewife, caring for children, and cooking. She also loves keeping things clean and spotless. Some of her hobbies are, dancing, being around children of all ages and spending quality time with friends and family..

Ms. Diamond D.

Certified Toddler teacher 

Ms Diamond is thrilled to be teaching children and working with Mama Bear Learning Center. She graduated from Highlands High School in 2019. 

In her free time, Ms. Diamond enjoys watching movies and gong to events. She especially loves family time with her kids.

Ms. Zoey A.

Certified Infant/Toddler Teacher

Zoey graduated from Idea Carver College Prep. in May of 2023.  She comes from a big family and grew up babysitting kids within her family. She is looking forward to working with the babies and watching them grow and has plans to continue college in the near future. 

Ms. Savannaha H.

Certified Infant/Toddler Teacher 

Ms. Savannaha graduated from John Marshall High school in 2015. She comes from a big family and grew up babysitting her baby cousins when needed. She loves spending time with her family. She has 3+ years of childcare experience. Ms. Savannaha loves working with the babies and building a relationship with them. She enjoys reading and arts and crafts, especially crocheting, she’s always looking for a new project to make.

Mrs. Jamie R. (CDA)

Certified Pre-School/Special Needs Teacher 

Hi, My name is Jamie. I have been in education for 12 years. I started off as a substitute in 2012, In 2017 I was given the opportunity to go into a classroom where I worked in early childhood special education. In 2021 I was given another opportunity to move into BLIS (Behavior Language Intervention Services) classroom, where I work with children with autism. I have 3 teenage boys, and a 2 year old goddaughter that I adore.

I enjoy watching all sports (especially if my boys are playing, haha). I love hanging out with my family and keeping in touch with friends. Thank you for letting me work with your children this summer. I'm excited to watch them grow.

Mrs. Gabby graduated in 2022 from John Marshall High School. Her favorite hobby is painting. She has babysat family and close friends children. She is the oldest and only girl of 3. She loves drinking Dr. Pepper, watching the little ones grow and develop.

Hi! My name is Mrs. Ashley!

I graduated from Elgin High School in 2018. I have an amazing husband and two beautiful kids a son (6) and a daughter (3). I love spending quality time with my little family, watching my son play T-ball and my daughter do gymnastics. I was a stay at home mom for the last 4 years but I’m ready to begin teaching little ones and watching them grow!

Ms. Andrea M.

Infant/Toddler Teacher

Ms. Andrea is a high school graduate who completed her studies early in December 2024. She will be attending UTSA in August to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with plans to earn her master’s in School Psychology to become a School Psychologist.

Originally from California and new to San Antonio, Ms. Andrea enjoys spending time by the beach, going down by the Riverwalk, and exploring new places. She also loves cooking and baking. She has been working with children since she was 13 and is passionate about supporting their development and growth. She is excited to bring her experience and enthusiasm to the children at Mama Bear Learning Center.
